What's the Coffee Shop Jam?
The Coffee Shop Jam, held twice a year in the spring and fall, is an opportunity for Rob Hampton's guitar students, Joe Walker's guitar students, Andrew Rudd's drum students, and Brady Kish's bass students to perform in a relaxed, fun environment. It’s part recital, part open mic, and part rock concert.
We organize the Jam guided by five principles:
- Having Fun
Playing music is all about spreading joy. - Providing a Memorable, Meaningful Experience
When everything's going right, live music can be a transcendent experience for both performers and audience members. We want to make that happen. - Sustainability
We want the Jam to flourish for years to come. - Real-World Experience
The Jam gives students a little taste of what professional gigging musicians experience. - Motivation
The promise of glory on the stage is a great motivator for polishing those chops.
