  18. Jon—no trouble, thankfully. I don’t have an ethical problem with it: I believe encouraging people to play music is good for the music industry and the artists.

    As for the legal side…this is a gray area. As a teacher, I’m given some leeway under the “fair use” provision in copyright law. If I were making money off of ads on my site, it would probably be illegal, but teachers are allowed some flexibility if the material is just for educational purposes. How much flexibility, I don’t know.

    Vern, I’m sorry, what’s on my chord charts page is what I have. Glad you’re digging the kids songs. I like teaching that one to kids, because it only takes two chords!

  22. Thanks Rob. I’m just learning the Travis style picking, and I love ‘Ft Worth Blues’, as well as ‘Goodbye’ and ‘If I Needed You’. It seems that Steve Earle, as well as the late great Townes Van Zandt are actually picking out a melody on these songs, rather than just a set pick pattern. But it may just be my untrained ear.

    1. I read somewhere that if you can play Travis picking, then work out some of your own styles, the “You will be getting your feet wet in some very holy water”. Townes is my biggest inspiration.

  23. Hey Frank,

    No, you’re right: They are doing more than just playing one pattern. I tabbed out the solo Earle plays in “Goodbye” and Lovett plays in “If I Needed You”–they’re there at the bottom of the chord chart. Earle tends to throw in the melody while he sings, too. If you learn the solo, try playing fragments of it as you sing. It’s hard!

  33. Thank you for this great collection. Any chance that you can post some blues material? What you have is great. I’d love to see a step by step method of learning the fretboard. In anycase, your site is now on my site and lets hope your both of them get more recognition.

    Do you have any tabs or links for a song by Poco called “Heart of the Night”? I’ve been able to find the lyrics but tabs are a little hard. If you have something for “Imaginary Lover” by the Atlanta Rythmn Section that would be cool.
